Q:can I cut a cylindrical glass cup with 2.5" diameter ? I want to create a glass chimney for candles
A:Cool idea! Yes, theoretically, but be careful! Putting pressure on a glass is different than applying pressure to a bottle and increases the chance of the glass shattering. Since you are scoring and cutting off the base of the glass you might be ok. just be mindful of applied pressure and WEAR SAFETY GLASSES and GLOVES! Practice on a few glasses to get the hang of it before cutting the best of your materials. I would also discard any glasses that show cracks after scoring or that don't cut cleanly - sanding might cause issues with thin glass and result in undermining the integrity of the glass overall; the heat created in a hurricane/chimney could cause problems after a few uses if there are any hairline cracks. Q:Will it just cut the bottom of glass wine bottles?

A:Here are tips for perfect cut:
1：When etching the bottle, just put a medium pressure on the bottle, otherwise the cutting head will move. Also, keep the pressure constant and the bottle stable.
2：Keep the bottle firmly against the backstop, place one hand behind the backstop to prevent it from deforming.
3：Make sure the cutting line is straight and meet end to end.
4：The optimal distance between the two rubber rings is around 0.5 inch, not letting the boiling water overflow between the two rubber rings when pouring hot water, make sure the water is hot enough (new boiling), or the bottle will break.
